Working alongside Darren from Roots to Food with a group of Year 2 children was fantastic. Darren delivered and constantly reinforced the nutritional value of the foods that we need to grow strong and healthy through two fantastic sessions – a nutritional cooking class and a Ready, Steady, Cook-style session. The sessions were practical with all 60 children enjoying hands on experience at the same time with everything provided. They prepared, cooked and tried foods that they had not eaten before and really surprised themselves when they liked them. The standard of organisation, equipment and presentation was outstanding. All the children had a fun-filled, educational day and I would highly recommend him. It was a fantastic way to end to our Food topic.

Hi Darren, I just wanted to thank you again for a brilliant day on Friday. It was lovely to meet you and see the enthusiasm you have for your craft not to mention helping children to understand the principles of healthy eating and using fresh ingredients. I asked my team if they were going to ask their parents to allow them to help in the kitchen and they all said a resounding yes.
Children loved their experience of Roots to Food

Thank you very much for the recent food and nutrition workshops at The Flitch Green Academy. The children loved cooking and were totally inspired by the dishes they created. This event enables the children to fulfil the nutrition part of the DT curriculum as well. Our deputy head teacher commented on how well you managed behaviour in each class and how engaged the children were.
Eye opening and fab!

I was urged to attend by another parent and I'm so glad I did! Gonerby hill
Foot school today became a cooking heaven for parents and their children! We steamed meatballs (who knew you could even do that?), safely sliced veggies and stir fried a sweet and sour chow mein. It was delicious. I thought I knew how to cook healthily. I know far more now. Darren was so engaging and informative. My children ate it and it really helped that they prepared it too. I feel I can now cook some of my main dishes in a much healthier way. Thank you so much. Highly recommend an hour with Roots to Food.
So impressed and inspired.
